Customer Booking Rules
Version 1.0 · Effective at Launch
These Customer Booking Rules explain the practical rules that apply when you request, book, pay for, cancel, reschedule, or attend a surf lesson through AWECEAN. They work together with the AWECEAN Terms of Service, Cancellation & Refund Policy, Risk Waiver & Release, Privacy Policy, and any rules shown during booking. If there is a conflict between these Rules and a more specific legal policy, the more specific policy controls.
1. AWECEAN's Role
AWECEAN is a technology marketplace that helps customers connect with independent local surf instructors. AWECEAN does not personally teach, supervise, or deliver surf lessons. AWECEAN is not a surf school, does not employ instructors, does not control the ocean or weather, and is not physically present during lessons.
Your lesson is delivered by the independent instructor who accepts your booking. The instructor is responsible for the direct lesson experience, including local safety judgment, equipment used during the lesson, meeting point coordination, and instruction in the water.
AWECEAN is responsible for operating the platform, managing the booking flow, collecting customer payment, maintaining marketplace rules, keeping platform records, and providing reasonable customer and instructor support.
2. When Your Booking Is Confirmed
A lesson is not confirmed immediately when you send a request. A confirmed booking requires all of the following steps:
- You submit a lesson request through AWECEAN.
- The instructor reviews and accepts the request.
- You complete payment through AWECEAN checkout.
- Payment succeeds.
Your lesson slot is blocked only after payment succeeds. If the instructor does not accept the request, or if payment is not completed successfully, there is no confirmed booking. Unpaid, unaccepted, expired, or incomplete requests may be cancelled automatically.
3. Lesson Products and Group Sizes
AWECEAN currently offers the following lesson products:
- Private Surf Lesson — 1 person. $160 total. 90 minutes.
- Semi-Private Surf Lesson — 2 people. $240 total. 90 minutes.
- Small Group Surf Lesson — 3 to 4 people. $95 per person. 90 minutes.
The maximum group size is 4 people. Instructors cannot set or change the platform lesson prices. Prices are set by AWECEAN and displayed before checkout.

Your booking includes only the items listed for the lesson at checkout. Unless stated otherwise at checkout, AWECEAN surf lessons include:
- Surfboard.
- Rashguard or wetsuit.

- Water training.
The instructor is responsible for providing or arranging the included equipment and instruction for the booked lesson.

- Video.
- Transportation.
- Hotel pickup or drop-off.
- Umbrellas.
- Chairs.
- Food or drinks.

- Any service not listed in the booking.
AWECEAN does not promise photography or media services as part of a surf lesson.
6. Instructor Contact Before the Lesson
Your instructor must contact you at least one day before the lesson to confirm meeting point, lesson time, ocean and weather conditions, any safety concern, any rescheduling concern, and any important preparation details. You should respond promptly so the instructor can prepare properly and confirm the lesson. If you do not receive contact from your instructor before the lesson, contact AWECEAN support as soon as possible.
7. Customer Responsibilities Before the Lesson
Before attending the lesson, you are responsible for reading and accepting the Risk Waiver & Release, arriving on time, providing accurate participant information, booking the correct number of people, disclosing relevant medical conditions, injuries, allergies, pregnancy, medication, or swimming limitations that may affect your safety, bringing any personal items you may need, not participating while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, cannabis, or any medication that affects judgment, coordination, reaction time, balance, or physical ability, and following the instructor's safety instructions. The instructor may refuse, modify, pause, or end the lesson if they believe participation would be unsafe.
8. Late Arrival
You should arrive on time. A 15-minute grace period applies unless your instructor agrees otherwise in writing. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the instructor may treat the booking as a no-show. The lesson may be shortened, modified, or cancelled depending on the instructor's schedule, ocean conditions, and safety judgment. Late arrival does not automatically create a right to extra time, rescheduling, or refund.
9. No-Show
A no-show happens when you do not arrive at the agreed meeting point within the grace period and did not cancel in advance. No-shows are non-refundable. The instructor may record the no-show in the booking record, and AWECEAN may use platform records, instructor notes, messages, timestamps, and other reasonable evidence to review any dispute.
10. Customer Cancellation
You may cancel a confirmed booking up to 24 hours before the scheduled lesson start time and receive a refund according to the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before start are generally non-refundable, unless the Cancellation & Refund Policy allows an exception or AWECEAN decides in good faith to make an exception. Payment-processing fees, cross-border fees, currency-conversion differences, or card-issuer fees may be non-refundable where permitted by law.
11. Rescheduling
A customer or instructor may propose rescheduling a confirmed lesson. Rescheduling must be accepted by both sides. A proposed reschedule is not confirmed until both parties agree and the platform records the updated lesson time. If the instructor believes ocean, weather, beach, or safety conditions are not appropriate for the booked lesson, the instructor should first try to reschedule when reasonable. AWECEAN does not guarantee that a new time will be available.
12. Unsafe Ocean, Weather, or Beach Conditions
Surfing takes place in a changing ocean environment. Conditions can become unsafe before or during a lesson. Your instructor is responsible for making a good-faith safety decision based on local knowledge, surf conditions, weather, tides, currents, beach rules, lifeguard warnings, official closures, water quality, marine hazards, and the participant's ability level.
Unsafe conditions may include lightning or electrical storms, dangerous currents or rip currents, waves or shorebreak beyond safe teaching conditions, unsafe wind, tide, or visibility, water contamination advisories, marine-life hazards, official beach closures, lifeguard or authority restrictions, or any condition the instructor reasonably believes creates an unsafe lesson environment.
Poor wave quality, cloudy weather, light rain, personal discomfort, cold water, or less-than-perfect surf do not automatically make a lesson unsafe. When conditions are unsafe, the instructor may cancel, pause, modify, relocate, or reschedule the lesson.
If unsafe ocean, weather, or beach conditions prevent the lesson and rescheduling is not possible, the customer receives 50% back according to AWECEAN's final refund rule, subject to any non-refundable payment-processing, cross-border, currency-conversion, or card-issuer fees where permitted by law. This rule must be understood before checkout.
13. Instructor Cancellation
If the instructor cancels for a reason not caused by unsafe conditions, customer conduct, force majeure, or another policy-based reason, AWECEAN may offer one or more of the following: reschedule with the same instructor, replacement lesson with another available instructor, or refund according to the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Repeated instructor cancellations may affect the instructor's visibility, approval status, or ability to remain on AWECEAN.
14. Extra Participants
Only the number of people listed in the confirmed booking may participate. You may not bring extra participants unless the booking is updated and accepted through AWECEAN before the lesson. Extra participants may be refused by the instructor. If extra participants arrive without approval, the instructor may refuse them, modify the lesson, or cancel it if the group size creates a safety issue or exceeds AWECEAN's maximum group size. The maximum group size is 4 people.
15. Customer Safety During the Lesson
You must follow the instructor's safety instructions before, during, and after the lesson. The instructor may change the location, modify the activity, keep the lesson on the beach, pause the lesson, or end the lesson if they believe it is necessary for safety. Tell the instructor immediately if you feel unwell, are injured, are tired, cold, scared, or uncomfortable, do not understand an instruction, your equipment feels unsafe or does not fit, or you want to stop. You may stop participating at any time. Stopping voluntarily does not automatically create a right to refund.
16. Minors
Participants under 18 years old, or under the local age of majority, may participate only when the booking is made by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must accept the applicable Terms, Risk Waiver & Release, Cancellation & Refund Policy, and these Customer Booking Rules on behalf of the minor. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising the minor before and after the lesson and for deciding whether the minor should participate. The instructor may refuse or modify participation if they believe the lesson is not appropriate for the minor's ability, size, condition, behavior, or safety.
17. Medical Conditions and Swimming Ability
Surf lessons involve physical activity in the ocean. You must be honest about your swimming ability, fitness, medical conditions, injuries, allergies, medications, pregnancy, or other limitations that may affect participation. The instructor may refuse, modify, or stop the lesson if they believe the activity is not safe for you. AWECEAN does not provide medical advice, medical care, rescue services, travel insurance, accident insurance, or health insurance.
18. Alcohol, Drugs, and Impairment
You may not participate in a lesson while impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs, cannabis, or any medication that may affect your safety. If the instructor believes you are impaired, the instructor may refuse, suspend, or end the lesson. A refusal, suspension, or cancellation caused by customer impairment is generally non-refundable.
19. Media, Photos, and Videos
AWECEAN does not provide water photography as part of the lesson. Customers may voluntarily share photos, videos, reviews, or testimonials with AWECEAN. AWECEAN should not use identifiable customer photos, videos, or testimonials in public marketing without clear customer consent. Instructors may upload their own profile, surf, destination, and location media to AWECEAN only if they have the legal right to use and share that media; where instructor-uploaded media shows identifiable customers or others, the instructor is responsible for having the required permissions.
20. Reviews
After a lesson, you may be invited to leave a review. Reviews must be honest, based on a real experience, and respectful. AWECEAN may remove reviews that are fake, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, irrelevant, manipulated, or inconsistent with platform rules. Instructor visibility and ranking may be influenced by customer reviews, but AWECEAN does not create instructor "levels."
21. Disputes and Evidence
If there is a disagreement about a booking, cancellation, late arrival, no-show, refund, unsafe condition, instructor cancellation, customer conduct, or incident, AWECEAN may review available evidence, including booking records, payment records, instructor and customer messages, platform timestamps, instructor notes, customer notes, location or meeting-point information, weather / beach / ocean condition information, photos or screenshots when relevant and lawful, Stripe or payment processor records, and support communications. AWECEAN may use this information to make a platform-level decision, respond to payment disputes, support a refund review, investigate safety concerns, or enforce marketplace rules.
22. No Off-Platform Payment
All payments for bookings introduced through AWECEAN must be completed through AWECEAN checkout. Customers and instructors may not cancel a platform booking in order to pay directly in cash, bank transfer, mobile payment, or any other off-platform method. Off-platform payment removes platform records, weakens dispute protection, and violates AWECEAN marketplace rules.
23. Relationship to Other Policies
These Customer Booking Rules work together with the AWECEAN Terms of Service, Cancellation & Refund Policy, Risk Waiver & Release, Privacy Policy, and any booking-specific rules shown at checkout. By completing checkout, you confirm that you understand and accept these Customer Booking Rules and the related policies.
24. Contact
